Get your builders registration with the biggest and best in the industry

No. While the Cert IV provides a foundation of knowledge for domestic builder classes, it isn’t required if you can provide evidence of experience, references and a good job history - this can waive the need for a Cert IV or diploma. If you have completed your Cert IV, you can still include this on your application form as it demonstrates a broader range of knowledge. 

The Building Act 1993 indicates that you need a registered building licence when you intend to carry out domestic building work that exceeds $10,000. The licensing requirements are administered by the Victorian Building Authority. 

Failure to comply can result in a hefty penalty or even prosecution in the Magistrates Court.

At Builder Registration we offer all domestic builder licences (including unlimited, and all limited licence training), and all commercial builders licences (including unlimited, steel erection, low rise and medium rise).

We want to make sure that you have the best chance of registration success first time, which is why we ask some pre-approval questions to assess your fit. If you don’t pass the pre-approval, it’s not the end of the road; it’s actually just the beginning. We’ll devise a tailored pathway so that you can provide the evidence, skills, and experience next time you register with us.

You must meet the following criteria before embarking on your domestic builder registration journey:

• Be a construction professional
• Demonstrate a certain number of years of experience in your chosen class 
• Supply references from a domestic builder registered in your chosen class or in a class higher than the one you are applying for

If you don’t have enough experience, we can still help. Someone from our team will work with you to plan your path forward so that you can register as soon as you meet the eligibility criteria.

There are also services you can access until you become eligible, such as support, resources, and our LMS platform which allows you to trial the course prior to starting. Regardless of where you are on your journey, we will personally help you get to the stage where you are eligible to get registered.

Absolutely. We have a number of past and current students who are not native English speakers and we do everything we can to accommodate them. We offer a mixture of training delivery options for you to choose from depending on your English proficiency and can also translate the LMS into different languages.
