Why you need to be a registered builder in QLD
Licensed QLD builders are certified to carry out construction work within their chosen licence class. They are recognised by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) as professional builders with the technical skills and qualifications necessary to conduct building work on-site.
The QBCC is the regulatory body in Queensland that determines when you need to apply for your licence. It is also the department that will approve your builders licence application form.
In QLD, you must be registered if you are completing building work:
- Valued $3,300+
- Involving hydraulic services design valued at $1,100+
- Involving drainage, plumbing, gas fitting, building design, and more, of any value
